Howard Daugherty, PhD, York University

Professor Daugherty researches applied tropical ecology, biodiversity and sustainable

development. He is the Director of the Fisher Fund for Neotropical Conservation, which focuses on biodiversity conservation and rural sustainable development, and he is also a consultant on various aspects of sustainability for CIDA, World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, USAID, UNDP, IUCN, WWF and various national governments in Latin America, East Africa, and Southeast Asia.

Professor Daugherty is a member of the teaching faculty of the Faculty of Environmental Studies and of the Latin American and Caribbean Studies Programme and is a Fellow in the Centre for Research on Latin America and the Caribbean.  He is also the author or editor of 6 books and over 50 academic papers and professional reports. Howard has also held academic appointments at UCLA, University of Georgia, and University of Florida.

 

Sadly, Howard passed away on February 12, 2010. Howard was a tremendous teacher, advisor, and friend. He will be sorely missed, yet fondly remembered. More...

 





Catherine (Katy) Paul-Chowdhury, PhD

Catherine (Katy) Paul-Chowdhury is a management consultant, author and well-being entrepreneur. Katy spent over ten years with Robert H Schaffer & Associates (RHS&A), based in Stamford, Connecticut.  Katy has developed teaching cases, executive education workshops, and book chapters in the areas of organizational learning and change. She co-authored the Boundaryless Organizational Field Guide (Jossey-Bass, 1999) and she has published articles applying RHS&A’s results focused approach in the areas of innovation, risk management and workplace injury reduction. 

Katy is currently exploring how creativity, empowerment, achievement, and other factors contribute to well-being and happiness. Katy holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Queen’s University, and a PhD in business strategy from the University of Western Ontario.



Shady Kanfi, PhD Candidate, McGill University

Shady is a consultant and analyst in sustainable development and online communities.  Shady is currently a doctoral researcher with McGill University’s Desautels Faculty of Management on the use of environmental certification by firms as a profitable way to integrate environmental considerations into their core business activities.

Shady sits on the boards of a variety of Quebec environmental NGOs and “social economy enterprises”, has held senior positions at organizations such as the International Development Research Centre, and received his Master's in International Relations from Johns Hopkins.

 


John Baker, CEO & Partner, Aperio

John has an extensive breadth of Executive experience in the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors. Prior to his work with Aperio, he was the founding President of Proventus Inc. and the CEO of the Ontario Service Safety Alliance. 

John is a retired Naval Officer with 21 years of service, has a BA in International Studies from the Royal Military College of Canada, and has attended the Banff School of Management and Executive Education at Wharton. He is also a member of faculty at the Schulich School of Business at York University.

 

 

Deborah Kenley, MLA University of Toronto

Deborah Kenley has a Masters in Landscape Architecture with an emphasis on waste management and brownfield remediation. Deborah has worked as a landscape designer for residential and corporate projects and has experience as a specification coordinator and writer for large-scale LEED justice and healthcare projects. Deborah is also a seasoned program coordinator of educational programs for design professionals and non-profit organizations like the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) and the school of Continuing Studies at OCAD University. Deborah is currently providing ecological landscape consultation and design services to corporations through Credit Valley Conservation's Greening Corporate Grounds program.
